PARMESAN BREAD STICKS

Contributed by Lynne Snyder
  • 6 cups flour
  • 3 1/2 (or more as needed) warm water
  • 1/4 cup oil
  • 1 Tbs. yeast
  • 2 tsp. salt
  • More flour, as needed
  • Melted butter (not margarine)
  • Parmesan cheese
  • Crushed dry parsley
Mix dry ingredients together. Buzz water and oil in a blender and quickly stir into flour mixture. Don’t use all the water at once, mix and add if it needs more.

Mix well; knead a couple of minutes, adding flour as needed to keep the dough from sticking to hands. Let rise, punch dough down and break off small pieces, roll into melted butter and dredge in parmesan cheese and parsley.

Place on greased cookie sheet and let rise. Bake in 400° oven until brown, about 16-20 minutes. Serve warm.

Lynne's Note: This is the recipe I use for pizza dough but don’t add any oil. When making pizza I press the dough on lightly oiled cookie sheets; this recipe makes 2 of them. For the best pizza ever bake the pizza dough directly on unglazed tile or a pizza stone sprinkled with cornmeal.
